Subject: Faxing and Digital Phone Service

Question
I have Time-Warner digital phone service as well as a cable modem for Internet access.  The modem is a Motorola SBV5220, which says it supports automatic fam/modem processing.  My problem is that I can now no longer get my HP 2410v All-In-One machine to receive or send a fax.  The installer said it should work fine, technical support now says no fax machines are supported on digital phone service.  Oh, and I have one line (and number) devoted to both a combo phone/answering machine (AT&T 1855) and the HP 2410v.  HELP!

Answer
Scott,
i'm sorry but I don't understand your question. You said tech support already told you that faxs aren't supported by digital signal lines. You state you have a normal AT&T line already in use with your answering machine and H|P 2410v. Why not just use the normal AT&T line for your faxes?
