Subject: Phone/fax adapter

Question
Actually following up on an answer you gave to someone on this
forum, I want to know what type adapter I should ask for when
seeking to use one phone line to serve as both voice (phone) and
fax. You'd mentioned to someone else that this adapter knows a
fax coming in and would "separate" it accordingly. I need this to
happen especailly when I'm not in (unattended).

Currently, my computer can send and receive faxes but my set-
up evidently can not determine which is a voice call and which is
fax. What should I ask for at an electronics store or wherever?
My phome company is Alltel/Windstream, near Houston.

Answer
Joe,
Ask for a "FAX/Voice" splitter. They go by several names but if you tell them what you want it for, they should know what you're seeking. One note- the device is used for stand alone fax machines. I don't have any information on if it will work on a computer with fax functions.
