Question When we first moved into this apartment three months ago, we had an issue with the first phone we bought. We returned it and bought a second phone, which worked fine. Last week, our phone line died, so I called AT&T (our provider), and they sent someone to repair the line. After the work was done, we plugged in the phone, and it didn't ring. This was the same problem we had three months ago. The AT&T lineman plugged in his phone and it rang fine. We plugged in our spare phone that isn't cordless, and it rang fine. So we took our phone back and bought a new cordless phone with the same results. We took it back and bought another; same result. The phone we have now is a Panasonic 2.4 GH digital cordless phone, model KX-TG2631. We can call out and receive calls, but it will not ring. This is what happened with our past two phones.
Answer Jessica,
Have you tried the phone at another known working line?
Is the ringer set to on?
Is the power outlet turned on and off by a switch,or a timer?
What else is hooked up to your telephone line?
What did the repairman say was wrong with your line?
Did you have any work done by others in your apt or complex such as painters, plumbers, who may have damaged telephone wiring?
Do you have any pets or small children that could have "played" with the line, cords, or power adaptor?
Are ALL the cords (telephone and power) plugged in?
Did you have any electrical storms that may have shorted out your ringer?
Was the phone dropped?
Not being there to see your setup, I'm using common questions that people forget about when phone problems arise. If none of these seem to be the reason, If I were you I'd try a different brand, or use a WIRED phone from now on. Good luck- Spencer
