Question This is more of a follow-up to the outcome of the problem.
First, thank you for your help! All it said in my manual is that if you subsrcribe to the voicemail with VMWI the light should work. No settings or adjustments, that's all it said. so I was not able to try resetting anything as you suggested. I did unplug the 900 mhz phone, that did not work. So, I called the phone company, 611 and told them my problem with new phones and asked them to check on my service as you must have subscription from. I waited for response. Then, I called GE tech support. They told me to unplug both phones from AC outlet and phone jack, and take batteries out. Wait 10 mins. Hook it back up and that should "reset" the phone. They also said I would lose any settings I had programmed in (I asked). Interestingly, I did not lose my settings. It also did not work. While calling from my cell to test home phone by leaving message, I saw it didn't work. Then I had a message on my cell. It was the phone company calling back, there was a "problem with the way my account was written up, and the message light would work by tomorrow". So my provider (SBC)was the problem. Thought it best to call both places as the other might ask me to anyway. I did not expect it was phone service as the light always worked and still works on my 900 mhz phone, really thought it would be the phones themselves. I don't know why getting new phones it didn't work. The solution was quite unexpected. I thought this info might help you, and others if listed to the site.
Thanks so much!
Janet

Question -
I recently purchased a new set of phones, a base with an additional handset. The phones are GE 28111 Series DECT 6.0 cordless speakerphones.
My problem is that I subscribe to voicemail through my phone company, and the phone has a Visual Message Waiting Indicator on it, a flashing light. Neither phone's light has flashed when I have a message waiting since I set up the phones. Everything else works fine. I have another phone (900 MgH) that has this feature and it works. My phone manual says if I subscribe to this service I should have the flashing light. It seems odd that both phones have this problem. Is there anything I can try to get it to work? I haven't been able to get troubleshooting advice anywhere else. I don't like having to check the phone for audible message waiting tone, I am missing the flashing light.
Thanks for any help or advice you might have.

Answer -
Hello Janet,
I Called GE's Tech Support And Even Got A Case # 1G1BF,
They Told Me That It Shound Lite MSG Waiting Lite Out Of Box With No Setting Changes. I Do Not Know Because I Cannot get A Copy Of The User Guide. What Lites The Lite Is The Stutter Dialtone From Your Telephone Service Provider. If There Is Something In User Guide For Setup Of MSG Lite And There Are Options, Select Stutter Dialtone.
If Your Service Provider Is Talk America Call Them And Make Sure They Are Sending It... There Were Issues With Them A While Back. Also Try Unplugging 900mhz Phone To Rule Out That It's Not Interfering With New Ones.
Good Luck And Hope This Helps...
