Question Spencer,
Thanks for your input. Could this "splitter" also be referred to as
a "separator"? I went to Best Buy and Cicuit City and a "separator"
was the closest thing they had. Haven't tried it yet, but am not
too sure this is what's needed.
I do have a separate fax machine aside from my computer. I take
it this splitter as you call it plugs into the phone wall jack and
houses one line for the phone and one leading to the fax? Does
it detect a voice call from an incoming fax? My current problem
is that nothing detects the difference so that a fax could be
eventually picked up by my voice mail if it rings past four times.
Joe
Answer Joe,
I've seen them called by SEVERAL names, so go by what it does, not what marketing people decide to call it. It Does detect the tones of incomming fax calls and routes it to your fax machine, or if no tones detected, allows it to go thru as a regular voice call. You may need to adjust your fax, or voice mail rings times for the splitter to function. From your description, you already have picked up the idea of how it works so I think once you get the device, you'll be all set. I don't like to mention specific rertailers, but if you try your local "radio hut" you should find the item you need there. In addition, the retailers that sell fax machines, normaly can sell you the splitter, or inform you where they are available in your area. Spencer
