Question i have a brother intellifax 1270. cannot find the manual. need to hook up external answering machine to the phoneline. are there any remote access/remote codes i need to set up? should i set up the answering machine to pick up on less rings than the fax machine? it picks up on 4 rings if no messages and 2 if messages present.should i set the reception setting on f/t or tad mode? any help or advise would be helpful.

You Are Going to have problems,
the fax or answering machine will want to answer the ringing line on it's ring setting 9 (2, 3, 4,etc.).
what you should use is a com share device that will share phone line with all devices.
It hears fax Polling Tone and sends it to fax machine,
hears none and sends it to T A D (telephone answ. device).
