Subject: fax machines

Question
I only have one phone line in my home. My computer is on DSL. I'm going to buy a fax machine.  Can I use my same phone line for the fax or will I have to have a new line installed. (I hope not). I also have voice mail on my phone line.  Someone said if I have voice mail then I couldn't use a fax with auto answer.  Is this so?  What will be my best options? Someone also said if I use the same line for fax then people will have to call first and let me know they are going to send a fax.  Don't know if this is so, I need help!!  My phone co. is a local company, Farmers Telephone.

Answer
Bridgette,
Alot of your questions are going to depend on the fax machine you buy, so tell the salesperson what you told me, and go over it one by one.
Your voice mail shouldn't affect your fax other than in the amount of rings before it answers for you. (set your fax to answer according to your local telco instructions)
Even with DSL, you should be abel to use the same line for your fax, voice, and online needs.
