Question We recently started receiving fax calls, as evidenced by the recorded beeps on our answering machine, from an unknown caller ID. These are most annoying, as they often occur early in the morning or late at night. Is there a hardware box, i.e. filter, that could be added to the line to prevent this? I know some answering machines won't let calls through if they are from an unknown number, but our answering machine doesn't have that feature. Thanks for your advice!
Answer Allan,
i'm sorry I don't know of any hardware add-ons that would do this for your existing answering machine. Your telephone company sells a service in conjunction with caller ID that blocks unknown numbers and others from ringing on your phone (or answering maching) but this is a SERVICE and you are charged a small monthly fee.
