Question Hi, Our house is only 20 years old, but I believe something has always been wrong with the wiring because no matter what phone in the house we use (new, old, cordless, corded) the people on the other end always complain that they can't hear us well. We have four modular jacks in the house over three floors. Of interest, when I turn the volume of our kitchen phone way up, I can faintly hear an area AM radio station in the receiver! Verizon has replaced our outdoor interface box recently (unrelated) but that hasn't helped at all. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Answer Eric,
Radio stations being picked up on your telephone and even television are not uncommon, and can be corrected usually by an RF filter.
These filters are available at most electronic stores.
Although the radio signals don't usually cause a loss in volume, install a RF line filter at your network interface and see if it helps, if not-return it for a refund. I assume you've had telephone repair service check your line, but if not, do so. Spencer
