i understand that You have long experince with
telecommunication ,I would like to know from you sir if
it is true that IT and Telecommunication have created
many advantages to humanity rather than other
technologies did
Thanke you sir for your valuable time.
Answer In order to see the benefit to humanity, I think that you have to look at the history of telecommunications, which really started with the telegraph. By allowing instant communication, the telegraph facilitated sharing of ideas and culture between nations. It helped advance scientific learning and cooperation. It advanced cultural understanding and commerce worldwide. The telephone continued this progression, and along with the automobile helped to bring the comforts of the city to rural residents. The telephone united communities and countries and helped spread a common, popular culture worldwide. The telephone helps save lives by bringing medical help instantly. Satellite communication helps predict the weather and therefore allows countries and communities cope with natural events. Satellites help developed nations defend their borders, and broadcast information to their citizens. Now the same message can be distributed to a great many people at the same instant which in itself carries the possibility of enormous good, but also the potential for misuse. The Internet was invented primarily for a defensive military purpose, but it quickly became a vehicle for learning, personal communication and commerce. Right now we are in a situation where the technical capabilities and potential for further breakthroughs really exceed public acceptance or practical application. IT, broadband connectivity and mobile communications are at present employed by so few people worldwide that their benefit to humanity cannot be determined. What the science of communication and the communications industries need are wise minds to develop applications for the technology that will benefit mankind in the future.
