Telecommuting - Telecommute Nurse

Expert: Leslie Truex - 10/6/2009

Question
I am an oncology certified nurse. I see information about telecommute jobs online, but would like more information about how to find a job in my home for my area of expertise. I would love to do case management or nurse navigator, or something like that at home. I have been a nurse almost 20 years, and looking for something different. How can I get started at home? I currently teach wellness classes also, and low gycemic classes. I would also have an interest in teaching preventative health in a telecommute way for insurance companies if there is such a thing.

Answer
Hi Joyce,
I frequently find jobs that require nursing skills. These vary from phone triage to case management to reviewing documents. A good place to find them is at Careerbuilder.com and Monster.com. You can do a search on "work at home" or "telecommute". At Careerbuilder you are given a list of job areas to narrow your search even more.

Companies that seem to hire home-based nurses include Humana, Medco and insurance companies.
