Question How would I begin working in telecomuting in the area of translation of media
(music, films, TV shows) between Japanese and English? How do studios get
things subtitles or scripted for voiceover? Is there telecommuting work available
in this field? Would I contact studios (Paramount, Sony, etc...) or would I contact
translation agencies?
Answer Hi Kumiko,
I see many translations jobs, but I don't think I've seen any related to subtitling for movies. I would start by contacting translation agencies as they can let you know if that is something that is outsourced or not by studios. Studios are probably harder to get information from and find the right person to talk to.
