Question Are there any "real companies" that allow you to work from home. I have clerical skills as well as medical billing. I have been home raising my family and would like to return to work. Work from home would really work for me.
Answer I would suggest that you contact local companies that might be interested in your services. Explain the benefits of having a virtual employee to them.
Another source might be www.getafreelancer.com, www.guru.com and www.craigslist.org. If a company wants you to pay to work for them or get info, don't do it. It is very seldom worth it.
As for 'real companies', yes, there are some, but the rule above applies. It is very hard to find virtual work and often you have to do short-term projects.
Sometimes I will work for a company for months and then suddenly they don't need help anymore. It is just part of telecommuting.
Sorry that there is no specific company to send you to. It takes searching and praying. Create a website for yourself and create some business cards. Put the web address on the cards and hand them out to everyone you meet.
