Question
Why do I have to pay to NOT have my phone number listed.  My husband is a police officer and it is policy to not list your number.  Why is there such a huge difference in price between companies (A T & T as opposed to Verizon, etc)?

Answer
Kelley,
You pay to have an unlisted number because it costs the telecommunication providers to do so. I'm not aware of huge price differences between them, but prices are set by your states public utility commission, and the marketplace. The last time I checked AT&T's price in California for an unlisted residence number is $1.25 per month. Verizon charges $1.50 per month in California.

I wouldn't say that .25 is a huge difference.
