Subject: LEC Charge for Long Distance Access

Question
I've begun using my cell phone (Verizon Wireless) for all long distance toll calls, as they are included in my plan. If I tell my LEC, Verizon, that I no longer want long distance access, will they stop billing the monthly "Interstate Subscriber Line Charge" on my line? Also, would I still be able to dial toll free numbers from the land line if I removed LD access?

Answer
Ed,
You're still going to be charged the Interstate Subscriber Line charge, and WILL unless you discontinue telephone service. It's a Fed charge NOT a local or long distance carrier charge.
As far as toll free service, You should be able to call 800 numbers and any other Long distance numbers by dialing "Access Codes" (See your telephone directory for more info and the codes.

Ed,
Was there a problem with my answer? I just received a negative score from you, and was wondering if I left something out or didn't answer all your question?
