Subject: Difference beteen a cell number and a phone number

Question
QUESTION: Hi, the question is how do i notice the difference between a cell number and a phone number, i know both are 10 digits, 3 for the code area and 7 for the number. For example in Spain you dial 6 before the cell number, in japan cell numbers start with 090,080 and 070, Venezuela, cell numbers start with 412,416, 414,415,etc, it depends on the phone company. how do i notice the difference in USA, cell phone numbers and phone numbers. thanks.

ANSWER: Jonathan,

I the United States, (The north american numbering plan -NAPP) there is none. Unless you have access to central office exchange codes, cell phone numbers appear just like land lines.

QUESTION: Ok, here comes the point, how do phone companies set the costs for the calls to the different numbers, voip, cell phone, phone.

ANSWER: Is this REALLY your question, or are you looking for something else?

A call to a cell phone, voip, or land line is based on time distance and the plan you have. if you're calling from a land line and the 3 types of numbers are all local, there is no extra charge in most areas and companies. ALL telephone companies offering common carrier service use rate centers (a geo spot to determine rates and distance)
If you're using a cell phone to MAKE the calls, I can't help you as stated in my profile.
Hope this helped, Spencer

QUESTION: well if i have to make my question clear. I have a public phone cab, people come here to make phone calls, mi phone company provider gave me costs for landline calls and cellphone calls, so i want to configure my console to set the costs for customers calls, i cant set costs for USA and CANADA because of this.

Answer
Jonathan,

I'm sorry I can't help you. I'm not even sure what a public phone cab is, and per my profile i don't deal with cell phones, or services outside the north american (usa and canda) calling area.

Please tey another expert for your question and tell them in advance what country you need the information for.
