Telephony--Clecs, Long Distance - Phone cards

Expert: Spencer Holcombe - 5/10/2001

Question
Hi -

Just started looking at prepaid phone cards.  Sam's Club offers AT&T card - 1,000 minutes at about 4 cents a minute.

Are there drawbacks to using these cards for all long distance calls?  Why do people still shop around for long-distance rate plans instead of just purchasing a phone card?

Thanks!

..Steve

Answer
Hi, the answer is simple-ease of use! Some people (I'm one) don't like dialing extra digits to make a call, others don't want to have to remember a code or carry a card to speak on the phone. Also, others don't belong to a "discount"  club or have access to buy a card.  Spentelco
