Question Hi -
Just started looking at prepaid phone cards. Sam's Club offers AT&T card - 1,000 minutes at about 4 cents a minute.
Are there drawbacks to using these cards for all long distance calls? Why do people still shop around for long-distance rate plans instead of just purchasing a phone card?
Thanks!

Answer Hi, Steve. There are lots of reasons people use phone cards. BellSouth offers to waive the $100.00 deposit if you are willing to block long distance. Hence the need for a phone card. Likewise, truckers or people that need access at various points in their day use them. On the other hand, lots of people hate all the numbers you have to put in, and make most if not all their calls from home. Even 1010 numbers, which have no monthly fees, are too much trouble. They will shop for long distance rates. The newest thing now is wireless e-mail. It's like a pager, but with a flip-up display screen and a little keyboard you use your thumbs to type on. It's a pager, instant messenger, and computer e-mail all rolled into one. Anyway, if you don't mind the hassle, buy the card...It's probably your best bet. Hope that answers you question. Anything else? Lol...Later, Bill
