Question
Hello:

I couldn't find a topic on the "allexperts" main page for this question so I thought I would begin here.  I have my telephone service through my internet service provider.  They provide me with my phone, cable television and internet connections.  I was wondering if there are any programs out there that would interface with the cable / telephone modem I use so I could "block" certain phone numbers from getting through.  There are about 3 or 4 telemarketers that call literally 5 or 6 times a day and won't stop.  I have already put our phone number on the national "do not call" website and then number of telemarketing calls has dropped a good deal but there are still a few that still get through.  I just figured with today's technology etc there must be a way a person could block certain phone numbers from coming through.  They are always the same numbers.  Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks,

Paul

Answer
Some people just have a voicemail message saying hang up unless you are authorised to call, some phone systems you can direct certain numbers to destinations etc but if they withold you have no chance as its down to the caller if ID shows or not. That is tricky even with phone systems but with modems I do not know.
