Subject: Telephon Operator System

Question
Dear Richard,

We are looking for a cheap easy solution to attend our customers on the phone.
The Idea is basically to give the customer a phone number followed with a dedicated 4 digit code.
the code should be used to find the customer details in a database automatically so that the operator immediately knows who he is talking to.

Systems like that exist, but honestly I have no idea on how they work.
My questions in this connection would be:

Suppose we have only one available simple land line to acces our operator service, is it still managable to implement such a database-code system?

Is there special software or hardware needed?

Can you recomment us a cheap and easy solution to implement such a system with a simple landline?

Would it be even possible to connect a standard computer to that phoneline and the software would do the rest.
For us it is not yet an issue, that we can handel multiple calls at once. So if it makes that cheaper and easyer it wouldnt evern matter if the line is busy while the operator is takling with a customer.
Important is the issue with the code and  databse

Many thanks for your information

Kind Regards,

Marc

Answer
I cant really help you with this as it is CTI software that mainly large corporations use I I dela with small and medium size business. There is a software called smartphone that may help to pop up on screen the number but not sure how this integrates with a database.
