Question -
what number do i dial to find out who my long distance carrier is?
Answer -
Hi! Easy question. Just dial '0', and ask them to connect you to the business office. They can tell you who your carrier is, and probably give you the number. Even if you've been 'slammed', they'll have the name. Personally, even tho I work for BellSouth, since I make so few calls out of my local area, I use '10-10-987' (1010987+1+area code+nbr}. It's like 5 cents a minute plus 39 cents per call. You don't need to pay anything per month that way, other than for the calls you make. However, if you use alot of minutes, and have caller ID, etc, you might want to go with your local phone carrier, since they can give you a cheaper package deal than a strictly LD service will.
One other useful piece of info: Anytime you need a toll-free number for a big company, you can dial 1-800-555-1212. It's free, and gives out any companys' toll-free nbr.
Hope I was able to help. Anything else?

Answer Wow. I didn't know there was one. Some of the field techs have numbers that they can call to find out things, like when they patch into a line, they 'anac' to find out what number they are connected to. (whatever that is) But I'm in the office, so I wouldn't know. I must confess I'm curious as to where you heard of this number. It's the first I've heard of it...
