Question re: Noise/interference
Have replaced battery; phone is in own separate jack/ac outlet. I get a lot of noise -- sounds like cyclical pattern of interference.
have unplugged from wall/ac, waited 10 minutes -- sometimes resolves problem, sometimes not
Also, can you recommend a good corded single line phone with caller id?
Thanks
Deborah
Answer Deborah,
It's not what's in the same jack, or electric outlet. IT's WHAT else is hooked up to the LINE, and your electrical SERVICE. Start by checking everything you have plugged into a phone outlet- alarm, teevo, other phones, caller id boxes, answering machines, computers, faxes, etc.
Unplug EVERYTHING except the cordless phone, plug in one additional item while checking the phone for interference, continue until interference returns -You've found the culprit! If noise is still on your phone with EVERYTHING else disconnected from phone service, replete with your electric items- Most interference is caused by items with motors IE fans, A/C, Heaters, refrigerators, hair driers, laundry, AND FLORESCENT LIGHTS. Check those items 1st, and Don't leave your refrigerator or freezer unplugged longer than necessary! (you can get telephone line filters at most electronic shops, and electric filters (isolation device) at the same. Good luck finding the source-it takes some time and sleuthing but in the end it's worth it.
As for recommending specific brands of phones, I don't. (I have a built in preference for AT&T branded/alcatel/lucent, advanced american telephones) It would be unfair for me to recommend any brand, but go for sound quality and workmanship, not price or pretty styles.
