About Marcia Studley
Expertise
I`m a true member of the tv generation! I grew up doing my homework while watching the classics of the 60`s and 70`s and today, they are still my favorites. I have a big library of tv and film reference books at my disposal, as well as a large video library. My memory is pretty darn good too, and when that fails, I can hit the books and/or videos, not to mention a few friends who are as devout tv gen members as I am. Please note that my expertise is with American tv only.

Question
I am trying to find out the name of the TV show, probably '80s but maybe '70, that aired random stories each week.  I have thought all these years that it was Spielberg's Amazing Stories, but according to TV.com's comprehensive episode guide, the 2 episodes I was hoping to find are not included.

Anyone remember seeing a story about a guy who, beginning with the word "throwrug", grows less and less able to understand the English everyone speaks, as the definition of words keeps changing?  At first it's just a word now and then, but near the end, everyone spoke strings of total nonsense, like, "Throwrug cadillac, desk trip poker top in chigger pick not slot."

Anyone remember this?

The other episode was about a man having a idyllic picnic with a pretty wife and kids, when all of a sudden time hops back a minute or so and repeats, except he's the only one conscious of it, and it keeps happening until the end where we all realize he's actually in a "dream capsule" (in the future!) where people pay to have fantasies fulfilled.

Can anyone help me with this?  Thanks!!

Answer
Hi Michael,

Unfortunately, none of these ring a bell, but it sounds like an anthology series.  The 'dream capsule' one is vaguely familiar, but not exactly as stated, so I'm thinking it's something else.  I thought I'd send you the url to a listing of some other anthology series and maybe it's there.

Not on that list is the syndicated Outer Limits, and I was wondering if it might be one of those; somehow; it sounds like an Outer Limits to me.

Hope this helps in your search!
