Subject: 1960's WWll series
Question Do you remember a weekly series in the late 1960's based on a WWII (Army) Special Unit that was similar to the "Dirty Dozen" movie? Not Combat, but another war series.I think one of the main characters was called "Chief" and he carried switchblades.
I have been trying for years to remember the name of this series. Really appreciate your help. Thanks.
Answer I certainly do remember it, Jim...
The show you are trying to remember is "Garrison's Gorillas", which ran on the ABC Television network on Tuesday night at 7:30 from September 5th, 1967 to September 17th, 1968...
The premise was straight out of "The Dirty Dozen", just cut down a bit... 4 prisoners with special skills being promised a pardon if the volunteer to join a special commando group...
There was Actor (played by Cesare Danova), a con man; Casino (Rudy Solari), a safecracker; Goniff (Christopher Cary), a cat burgler; and the one you remember, Chief (Brendon Boone), an American Indian who was really good with a switchblade...
This motley group was led by Lt. Craig Garrison (Ron Harper), with missions taking them all over Europe; many behind enemy lines...
I hope this answers your query !!!
Thanks for a Great Question !!!
Take Care,
Mike
