About Marcia Studley
Expertise
I`m a true member of the tv generation! I grew up doing my homework while watching the classics of the 60`s and 70`s and today, they are still my favorites. I have a big library of tv and film reference books at my disposal, as well as a large video library. My memory is pretty darn good too, and when that fails, I can hit the books and/or videos, not to mention a few friends who are as devout tv gen members as I am. Please note that my expertise is with American tv only.

Television Trivia - 70's gothic horror title?

Expert: Marcia Studley - 12/28/2008

Question
I *think* this must've been a TV movie or special that aired on PBS on "Once Upon a Classic" or a show similar to that...probably UK in origin.  I am almost positive it would have been on PBS as that was one of the only channels my dad let me watch as a child.

This will be somewhat vague, as I was very young at the time of viewing but the images where so strong they scared the PANTS off me and I still remember! :)

I recall there was a large clock and a candle in an old fashioned candleholder with a handle...the candle had something to do with controlling time, and a scary ghost/ghoul that chased a kid throughout the inside of the walls of an old victorian house.

There was a brother and sister that were victims of this entity.  And lighting the candle caused the ghoul to appear, I think.

All I remember is the big clock, candle, time, and something cloaked and evil chasing the children along the inside of a wall.  Creepy, creepy, creepy.

Any ideas?  Thank you muchly!

Answer
Sorry, but I don't think I'm going to be able to help on this one.  I rarely watched anything goth or horror related, and I wasn't a big PBS watcher, either.  I did do some searching, but there's limited information on Once Upon a Classic available, and PBS shows are very hard to research.

Wish I could help, but all I can suggest is going to PBS' website and maybe contacting their programming director and see if it rings a bell to that person.

Good luck!
