Television Trivia/Name of an actress

Question
She is elderly now so that gives you an idea of her age.  She is a big boned woman who always had red hair and an English accent.  Her voice is wonderful and I think she might have had blue eyes.  Last known film to me was made in the last ten years or so, she lived near the ocean and was writing a book and befriending a troubled teen.  I remember the book turned out to be her life story.  Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Karen,

Wish it did, but descriptions aren't my strong suit.  You say redhead and I think of someone like Agnes Moorehead or Rita Hayworth; maybe Arlene Dahl.  Maureen O'Hara?  She's Irish, though, not British.  She's made a handful of movies in the last 15 years or so.  She's a great actress.  I wouldn't even think of her as elderly though.  Yes, she's older, but she's so vibrant that it's not a word I'd associate with her.

Maureen's last movie was 2000, called "The Last Dance" with Eric Stoltz. It's kinda close, vaguely, to what you mention in your description.

Any chance Maureen is who you are looking for?

I`m a true member of the tv generation! I grew up doing my homework while watching the classics of the 60`s and 70`s and today, they are still my favorites. I have a big library of tv and film reference books at my disposal, as well as a large video library. My memory is pretty darn good too, and when that fails, I can hit the books and/or videos, not to mention a few friends who are as devout tv gen members as I am. Please note that my expertise is with American tv only.
