About Marcia Studley
Expertise
I`m a true member of the tv generation! I grew up doing my homework while watching the classics of the 60`s and 70`s and today, they are still my favorites. I have a big library of tv and film reference books at my disposal, as well as a large video library. My memory is pretty darn good too, and when that fails, I can hit the books and/or videos, not to mention a few friends who are as devout tv gen members as I am. Please note that my expertise is with American tv only.

Subject: Looking for 80's PBS kids show

Question
My friend and I both remember watching a PBS kids show in school about some teens who worked in some type of "garage" on a neighborhood newspaper. The headlines of the newspaper somehow either came to life or were going to happen in the near future and the kids had to either solve the mystery or stop the story from happening. Also we remember some type of villain woman who was like in space or something and she wore some horrible costume and had these stupid looking goons working for her trying to stop or thwart the kids' plans. Can anyone help us remember the show from our childhood?

Answer
HI Gina,

Could it be "Read All About It" which is summarized as: When three kids explore a coach house held by a missing Uncle of one of the kids, they discover far more than they bargained. They discover two robots, Otto and Theta, who tell them about a dire threat of a conspiracy against the town. By accident, they also discover a teleport machine that can take them to planet Trialveron controlled by the alien tyrant, Duneedon. Against this threat, the kids decide to use the coach-house as the base for a community newspaper both to keep the building and investigate the conspiracy. Along the way, they learn about writing and its various practical uses as they fight the alien forces that oppose them.

Let me know if that's not it, and I'll continue searching!
