Question
QUESTION: t.v. mini series (I believe) about the beginnings of our country.  If I remember it
seemed to be aired on sets and not in natural surroundings.  I believe it starts
with the quartering of soldiers.  I think it was aired in the late 60's or early 70's.
I think it was well before the Adams' Chronicles.  It is vivid in my mind but I
cannot remember its title so I cannot find it anywhere.  Please help.

ANSWER: Carmela, I'm afraid I've come up empty on this right now....

Not sure if there were "mini-series" back in the late 60's...maybe you're think of a movie ???

The other thing is that since you mention "The Adams Chronicles", is it your recollection that this might have been a PBS program ???  If so, please reply here...

I will continue to search for this, and if it's PBS, that will narrow down my search...

Thanks for a Great Question !!!
Take Care,
Mike

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: THANKS MIKE FOR TAKING THE TIME TO FIND THE ANSWER.  IT MIGHT HAVE
BEEN A PBS PROGRAM.  I WISH I HAD MORE INFO.  I REMEMBER IT BEING WHAT
SEEMED A TAPED LIVE PERFORMANCE.  I THINK IT STARTED WITH THE GREEN
MOUNTAIN BOYS AND CONTINUED THROUGH THE SIGNING OF THE
DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE.  ONE OF THE YOUNG SOLDIERS WAS LATER
A CAST MEMBER OF ONE OF THE SOAPS.  HE WAS THIN WITH STRAIGHT
BLONDE HAIR.  OH WELL,  I HOPE THIS HELPS.  THANK YOU AGAIN.

Answer
Carmela, I have some information for you...

I haven't found anything on PBS, however, the other 3 networks did have a series of specials beginning in 1972, lasting all the way to the Bicentennial in 1976...

Each show had 2 to 3 specials per year...

On ABC, there was "The American Heritage", on CBS, it was "The American Parade", and on NBC (and the one lasting the longest) it was "The American Experience"...

The problem is...I can't find ANYTHING on any of these shows on the Internet...so, until I can get to the library and look thru old TV Guides, I can't say for sure that what you saw was on any of these...

I am planning a trip to my local library in the near future, so I'll re-post here what I find out anything...

Take Care,
Mike
