I'm trying to remember a show I used to watch as a kid.
It was on for only a couple of years right before Ed Sullivan on CBS affiliate in Burlington, vt.
It was 30 minutes and was documentary style show telling the story of great heroes.
Title was something like great American hero.

Howard, I'm afraid I have nothing on this...

I believe that show was either a local show or a syndicated one; it was not a CBS network show, as this was the line-up of shows immediately preceding The Ed Sullivan Show in the 60's...

1959-1962  Dennis The Menace
1963-1965  My Favorite Martian
1966       It's About Time
1967-1968  Gentle Ben
1969       To Rome, With Love

My suggestion to you is to go to the Burlington library and search out their old newspaper section in the periodicals; the paper would have the TV show grids...
