About Marcia Studley Expertise I`m a true member of the tv generation! I grew up doing my homework while watching the classics of the 60`s and 70`s and today, they are still my favorites. I have a big library of tv and film reference books at my disposal, as well as a large video library. My memory is pretty darn good too, and when that fails, I can hit the books and/or videos, not to mention a few friends who are as devout tv gen members as I am. Please note that my expertise is with American tv only.
Question I have been looking for a movie I seen on late night tv back in the early 80's. It was about the battle of the bands. The only parts I can remember is a guy in a barn playing a guitar. and he dont think hes good enough or something and his girlfriend talks him in to trying. In one part of the movie the kid was in jail. His dad was famous for the song blue moon. at the end of the movie when they are at the battle of the bands he blows everyone away with his music. It was something like "Joe King Story". Can someone Please tell me the name of this movie and where I can get it. It has been driving me crazy for 25 years.
Answer Hi Larry,
Unfortunately, my searches have come up empty. I've tried several things over the last few days, but can't come up with anything. You have a lot of information, but I haven't been able to match it up. If you can think of anything else at all, please let me know. Oddly, about the only thing it reminds me of is Eddie and the Cruisers II which has some similarities but isn't the exact plot that you're mentioning here. That movie had a scene in a barn while the band was preparing for a battle of the bands, and there was a big scene about not being good enough. The girlfriend has some play here, but it's another band member who really talks 'Joe West' into performing. There's no Blue Moon connectiong though. Like I said, if you can think of anything else, I'm happy to try again.
