About debra Expertise I can answer most questions on TV and movies from the USA and Australia, from the old Hollywood days of the 40's to now. If I dont know the show, I will do my utmost to search for the answer. The more information you can give the better eg: if it was about a boy and his dog, even the breed of dog would help. I will endeavour to answer as soon as possible after receiving your question but, please know, Im in Australia, so you may be asking while Im snoring.
Experience I was a toddler when my family got a TV set, from then I was hooked (Im now 49). I know there is a lot I havent seen, but there's a hell of a lot more I have.
Education/Credentials I have the best credentials available~ "Life Experience". Friends and acquaintances have called me square eyes, but I'm the first they ask if they have a question about some old or new movie and TV Show. Plus I always get the pink cheese first in Trivial Pursuit.
Question There was a TV show in the late 60’s ealry 70’s based on Roger’s and hamerstein play (the show had a different name than the play) – the play was also made into a movie of the same name before the show.
The show had 2 stars that were actors that went on to costar in their own primetime shows. They also recorded a couple of top 10 rock hits.
Name the show, the actors, the series that 2 actors went on to star in, the top 10 hits, the Hamerstein play/movie.
Answer Hi Wes,
I believe your prof. is talking about "The Partridge Family" which was loosely based on Rogers and Hammersteins musical "The Sound of Music".
The Partridge Family, as seen in Billboards top 10 hits, had hits with:
"I Think I Love You" peaked at #1 in 1970
"Doesnt Somebody Want To Be Wanted" peaked at #6 in 1971
&
"I'll Meet You Half Way" peaked at #9 in 1972.
I wouldnt have called these rock, more like pop hits.
Shirley Jones, who played Shirley Partridge went on to many other projects, but had her own show called "Shirley" which you can read about at: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078689/
David Cassidy, who played Keith Partridge, also went on to many things, but he did have a short lived show called "David Cassidy-Man Undercover". More about him at: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0144180/
Susan Dey, who played Laurie Partridge, went on to co star in "L A Law" but that wasnt her own show, just a bit of trivia.
I hope this is correct and helps you. Please dont forget to rate me :)
