"Knights of old TBS/TNT movie?? from the 80's? was watching TV around 1989 and the movie came on. Sorry, can't remember title or actors. Showing up by surprise, a handsome young man, a commoner, challenges knights of nobility in a competition while beautiful young princess and noble guests watch. He uses his very own tools/weaponry, rides on his steed through the circle of challenges, and outperforms all others. don't remember if he hid his identity or not, but he rides up to the observers and re-claims the princess's scarf (symbolically claiming her)"

I am so sorry that I haven't been able to find this.  I've tried a number of searches and came up empty.  I really thought I could find it, but no such luck.  If you can think of anything else, character names etc., I'll be happy to try again.
