Television Trivia - Help with forgotten show?

Question
I have struggled to track down a show I saw one single episode of in 1992-1993.  I believe only the pilot was aired, and my memory insists it was called "moe's world," or something similar. The premise as I recall focused on "moe," an 11-12 year old African American child who had recently died, and was simply observing his family and friends as a ghost in an urban setting of new York, Chicago, etc, while possibly trying to help them with their greif.  I feel like it was on abc at 8 or 9 pm once, in 92 or 93 never to be seen again. Any ideas?

Answer
There's nothing wrong with your memory, Jason...

The show you are trying to remember was, indeed, called, "Moe's World", a pilot for a propose series that was not picked up...

According to my source material, it was shown on the ABC Television Network on Thursday, July 9th, 1992, however, my TV Guide for that day shows no such show...

There were two other pilots shown that day, according to the TV Guide; "Jumpin' Joe", and "Crow's Nest"; at 9:00 and 9:30 EDT...both are also in my original source material as being on that day, too...

The only conclusion I can draw from that is "Moe's World" was shown at 8:00 EDT, pre-empting the original show there - "The Young Riders" - and that was done after TV Guide went to press...

The show starred Deon Richmond as the spirit of Moe Baker, a 12-year-old boy that was the innocent victim of street violence, watching over his family...

Also in the show... S. Epatha Merkerson as Moe's mother, Melba Baker; Jada Pinkett (now Jade Pinkett-Smith) and Kenneth Brown as Natalie and Jerome Baker, Moe's brother and sister, and Bill Cobbs as Grampa Abe Baker...

The pilot episode dealt with the familiy's attempt to help one of Natalie's friends, Jiwanda (played by Tisha Campbell), an unmarried, pregnant teen...

I hope this answers your query !!!

Thanks for a Great Question !!!
Take Care,
Mike
