Television Trivia/60's Japanese TV show - did it really exist?

Question
Hi, there was this show I used to see when a kid in Brazil and I just can't get to know one single soul who remembers it and I'm starting to think I'm awfully mistaken, especially because I was really small at that time. I remember it was black and white and is was broadcast here in the early 70's, which probably means it must have been a 60's show. This Japanese kid, whose parents seemed to be dead but did communicate with him telepathically!, fought against space creatures (as fas as I remember) and could fly into outter space. He would run and then jump shouting something that sounded like Esper!, maybe Hesper, and I think it might be the name the show had here in Brazil, and he would turn into this super kid in some sort of astronaut clothes and a helmet, and he had this pet that seemed to me to be a robot dove or parrokeet that could talk. I can recall very little of the show but some images are still very clear in my mind.
Please, help.

Answer
HI Gus,

Sorry, can't really help you on this one; don't know much about Japanese shows.   You might try going to http://imdb.com and seeing if any search options there will help, and you might try several internet search engines for Japanese TV Shows in the 60's.

Good luck!

I`m a true member of the tv generation! I grew up doing my homework while watching the classics of the 60`s and 70`s and today, they are still my favorites. I have a big library of tv and film reference books at my disposal, as well as a large video library. My memory is pretty darn good too, and when that fails, I can hit the books and/or videos, not to mention a few friends who are as devout tv gen members as I am. Please note that my expertise is with American tv only.
