About Marcia Studley
Expertise
I`m a true member of the tv generation! I grew up doing my homework while watching the classics of the 60`s and 70`s and today, they are still my favorites. I have a big library of tv and film reference books at my disposal, as well as a large video library. My memory is pretty darn good too, and when that fails, I can hit the books and/or videos, not to mention a few friends who are as devout tv gen members as I am. Please note that my expertise is with American tv only.

Question
QUESTION: Here's a tough one.  I saw what I think was a TV show in the 70' when I was a kid.  All I remember was there was a beautiful woman whose youth and beauty were preserved by some strange rocks.  When the rocks were crushed, she turned hideous and died.  I thought it may have been Night Gallery or The Outer Limits, but I cant find an episode of that description on the web.  Ive always wanted to see the show again because I have always remembered the haunting image of the woman when the rocks were crushed. What do you think?

ANSWER: HI Chris,

Is there any possibility you are thinking of a Star Trek episode called 'The Man Trap'?  It's not exactly what you mentioned, re: the rocks, but the planet is rock-heavy, so to speak.  The description is:  In the series premiere (this was the first episode of Star Trek aired but not filmed), the Enterprise visits planet M-113 where scientist Dr Crater and his wife Nancy, an old girl-friend of Dr McCoy, are studying the remains of an ancient civilization. The Enterprise is charged with resupplying the couple, and Dr McCoy must give them medical exams. Shortly after their arrival, however, crewmen start turning up dead, drained of salt, and left with unusual red marks on their faces. Someone is not who they appear to be, and Kirk and Spock must unravel the clues to discover why, how, and who is responsible.

If not, if you have any further details on the episode, character names or actors, let me know and I'll see if I can find something.  This was the first thing I thought of, though, when I read your inquiry.

Onward!

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Thank you for your time Marcia, but oh would that I could remember the details of my mystery show the way I recall "The Man Trap" and All other Star Trek episodes(big fan).  I think the creature in "Man Trap" was the same costume used for the Morlocks in the movie "The Time Machine".    Anyway, unfortunately, I have no other info, what I submitted is all I remember.  That is why it has been an unsolved mystery to me for so long.  I'd be mighty greatful if you had anymore   ideas.  Thank you.  -Chris

Answer
HI Chris,

I'm afraid I've come up empty.  I've tried a variety of searches to no avail.  I'm not a big horror fan, so haven't seen much of that genre.  I'm more the trekker and mainstream sci fi type myself.  There were other anthology series back in that era, so you might try broadening your search that way.  The imdb.com will let you bring up a list of sci fi shows that you can check.  Maybe it's something like Tales from the Crypt, or something.

Good luck!
