About Marcia Studley
Expertise
I`m a true member of the tv generation! I grew up doing my homework while watching the classics of the 60`s and 70`s and today, they are still my favorites. I have a big library of tv and film reference books at my disposal, as well as a large video library. My memory is pretty darn good too, and when that fails, I can hit the books and/or videos, not to mention a few friends who are as devout tv gen members as I am. Please note that my expertise is with American tv only.

Subject: 70's tv show featuring disco puppets

Question
My brother and I used to watch this TV show in the 70's or maybe it was a bit on another tv show featuring female marionettes of puppets dressed in sparkly disco garb...possibly singing and/or dancing to disco tunes and cracking jokes maybe?...I think The Captaein and Tenielle may have been  a guest on the show...it is driving me nuts that I can't remember the title or anything else about it...please help!

Answer
Hi Holly,

I'm not totally sure which show you are meaning.  My first thought went to Wayland Flowers and Madame.  Check these urls:
http://www.tvacres.com/puppets_madame.htm and
http://imdb.com/name/nm0283222/

Barbara Mandrell had puppets in her 'band' on her hit TV show, but it certainly wasn't disco.  They were the Krofft puppets who were very popular in the 80's.  There were a couple of other shows with them like DC Follies.

I couldn't come up with anything else and couldn't find anything from the 70's that seemed to match this specifically.

Wish I could come up with something more concrete.  If you think of anything else, let me know.
