AboutMarcia Studley Expertise I`m a true member of the tv generation! I grew up doing my homework while watching the classics of the 60`s and 70`s and today, they are still my favorites. I have a big library of tv and film reference books at my disposal, as well as a large video library. My memory is pretty darn good too, and when that fails, I can hit the books and/or videos, not to mention a few friends who are as devout tv gen members as I am. Please note that my expertise is with American tv only.
Question I'm trying to remember the name of an old cartoon. I believe it had 2 or 3 girls on it and a little old man dressed like a cowboy who could make hisself disappear. I believe they called him Nuggie or Nugget? It's been driving me crazy!
Answer HI Angie,
I found a series of cartoons from the early 80's called Goldie Gold and Action Jack that includes a character named Nugget. The basic description is: The world's richest girl is teamed up with Action Jack, ace reporter for Goldie's newspaper the "Goldstreet Journal". I don't think this is what you're looking for, though, since Nugget is a dog.
"Characters & Voices
Goldie - Judy Strangis
Jack - Sonny Melendez
Sam - Booker Bradshaw
At the young age of 18, Goldie Gold became one of the richest people in the world and decided to use some of her immense wealth to publish an investigative newspaper called The Gold Street Journal. Since she owned the paper, she took the liberty of searching out and reporting her own stories.
Goldie recruited the help of a part-time adventurer and intern reporter, "Action" Jack Travis. Each week, Goldie, Jack, and their loyal dog Nugget would take off on a fantastic adventure and eventually return home to deliver the story to their editor, Sam Gritt. At their fingertips were an abundance of gadgets, each of which seemed more impressive than the ones featured in last episode.
Much like Richie Rich, Goldie’s wealth was limitless and often the subject of a joke or a sight gag. Her money, however, was not the focus of the series. Instead, the show concentrated on the adventuresome relationship between Goldie and Jack, who loved being a team, but failed to recognize their feelings for each other.
Perhaps it was its similarity to Richie Rich, who actually preceded Goldie on ABC’s schedule, but Goldie Gold and Action Jack was not well-received by viewers. Despite its clever scripts and sharp animation, the show was cancelled after only one season."

This series was a spin-off from Yogi’s Space Race, consisting of two segments from that series-The Buford Files and The Galloping Ghost.
Taking place in Pendike County, Buford featured teens Cindy Mae and Woody doing what all red-blooded American teenagers did in the 70's: solve mysteries! Assisting Cindy Mae and Woody was their bloodhound Buford, whose nose turned red when he found a clue. Buford was a very lazy dog, and that, coupled with the bumbling police work of Sheriff Dupres and Deputy Goofer, forced the intrepid teens to work even harder to crack cases.
The Galloping Ghost was Nugget Nose, the spirit of a small, feisty prospector, who, like Buford, had a keen sense of smell. Wendy summoned Nugget Nose whenever she and her friend Rita needed assistance on the Fuddy Duddy Ranch. Fuddy Duddy owned the ranch and provided perpetual, if unintentional conflict with the Double-N.
Without the support of Yogi and friends, Buford and the Galloping Ghost left the air after one season.
