About Marcia Studley
Expertise
I`m a true member of the tv generation! I grew up doing my homework while watching the classics of the 60`s and 70`s and today, they are still my favorites. I have a big library of tv and film reference books at my disposal, as well as a large video library. My memory is pretty darn good too, and when that fails, I can hit the books and/or videos, not to mention a few friends who are as devout tv gen members as I am. Please note that my expertise is with American tv only.

Question
Okay I heard rumors that when they were casting for "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" that Katie Holmes auditioned for the role of Buffy but instead it was given to Sarah Michelle Gellar. Is that true? And if it is why did Katie Holmes not get it? Also why did the show come to an end?

Answer
HI Blondie,

According to the IMDB trivia on Katie:  Auditioned for the role as Buffy Summers (_"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997)_, the series), but she was too young.

As for why the show ended, I believe it was a combination of having run its course, having gotten too expensive licensing wise, and Sarah getting into movies.  There is an interesting opinion piece with info located here:  http://www.poobala.com/buffyandangel.html

Enjoy!
