About Marcia Studley
Expertise
I`m a true member of the tv generation! I grew up doing my homework while watching the classics of the 60`s and 70`s and today, they are still my favorites. I have a big library of tv and film reference books at my disposal, as well as a large video library. My memory is pretty darn good too, and when that fails, I can hit the books and/or videos, not to mention a few friends who are as devout tv gen members as I am. Please note that my expertise is with American tv only.

Question
Hi Marcia! I recall a t.v. show from the 80's that I think was on Nickelodean. It was set in a camping store - or a store of some sort - and the cast included humans. But then, at night, animals, who lived in the store, would come alive. It wasn't a cartoon. I can't remember the name of the show and NO ONE knows what I'm talking about! Can you help me prove to them that I'm not crazy? :)

Thank You!!

Lindsay

Answer
Hi Lindsay,

Could you have a few details confused?  I found a show from Nick called "Today's Special".  Here's the description:

Another favorite from the early days of cable TV, "Today's Special" appeared on Nickelodeon as part of their daytime children's programming, along with such shows as "Pinwheel" , "Live Wire", and "Out Of Control". It took place in a large department store "after hours", and each episode had a theme. The main character was Jeff, a mannequin who came to life when his magic hat was placed atop his head. I seem to remember a female character that was human, plus a puppet "security guard" that looked like an old man. He was shown in the show's introduction locking up the store, because the action always took place when the store was closed. Jeff only came to life during this time, and if his hat was removed, he'd turn back into a mannequin.

Is that it?
