AboutMarcia Studley Expertise I`m a true member of the tv generation! I grew up doing my homework while watching the classics of the 60`s and 70`s and today, they are still my favorites. I have a big library of tv and film reference books at my disposal, as well as a large video library. My memory is pretty darn good too, and when that fails, I can hit the books and/or videos, not to mention a few friends who are as devout tv gen members as I am. Please note that my expertise is with American tv only.
I hope you can help with this one. I was camping recently and my young son and nephew wanted to tell scary stories over the campfire. I told a few of the old school ones and then remembered an episode of an old TV show that was really spooky and I basically told the story of this particular episode by rehashing what I recall seeing. It definitely scared them and they asked where I came up with it. I told them it was from either the Twilight Zone or Night Gallery. I've searched it online and can't find it anywhere. Here are the details: I man enters into a spooky house and is on the staircase leading to the second floor. There is a framed painting on the wall and it appears to be a picture of the house/ It is dark and he keeps using a cigarette lighter to see and everytime he re-lights the lighter, the picture on the wall is different...and it also depicts a monster or a man approaching the home from outside and eventually shows him entering the house to possibly kill the man with the lighter. That's pretty much it...I can't remember what ends up happening to him.
Does this ring a bell with you? I sure hope so.
Thanks,
Mark
Answer HI Mark,
Yes, I've seen this often. It is Night Gallery and starred Roddy McDowell and Ossie Davis. It was one of the three 'galleries' in the original movie I believe. You can review the cast, etc. at the link below:
