About Marcia Studley
Expertise
I`m a true member of the tv generation! I grew up doing my homework while watching the classics of the 60`s and 70`s and today, they are still my favorites. I have a big library of tv and film reference books at my disposal, as well as a large video library. My memory is pretty darn good too, and when that fails, I can hit the books and/or videos, not to mention a few friends who are as devout tv gen members as I am. Please note that my expertise is with American tv only.

Question
What was the product that used the commercial line "It's crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside...It's crunchewy!"  I think it was advertised during the 70's and I think it's a candy bar...but it could be dog food.

Answer
Hi Jack,

I don't recall the phrase personally but did some research and came up with Ralston Purina's Chuck Wagon.  One site didn't list the entire phrase but did say this:

RALSTON PURINA
CHUCK WAGON: fork and dog food—woman with dog sings “crunchewy” then boy
with dog sings crunchewy―circa 1978

So it sounds like the crunchewy theme was with Chuck Wagon.

Hope that helps.
