About Sherry Wims Expertise Memphis metropolitan area. I am quite familiar with the cheapest means of travel as well as the most expensive. I find it a challenge to travel as cheap as possible in a safe and comfortable manner for a single woman and a child traveling alone. I love hostels and like to alternate with expensive luxury hotels. Museums, historical, and educational sights are what I like to explore. I also enjoy live theatre, music and dance. Family trips too.

Question I AM A STAY-AT-HOME MOM OF A 7 MONTH OLD SON WITH A HUSBAND WHO HAS TO WORK LONG HOURS. WE DON`T HAVE ANY FAMILY HERE SO I MISS SAN ANTONIO A LOT. I AM A SUBSCRIBER TO NORTHWEST AIRLINES CYBERSAVERS AND I SEE SAN ANTONIO SHOW UP PERIODICALLY BUT WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT THE BEST WAY TO TRAVEL TO SAT FROM MEM (NON-STOP IF POSSIBLE SINCE I HAVE TO TRAVEL WITH THE BABY ON MY LAP) IF I REALLY WANT TO GET HOME FOR A FEW DAYS WITH LITTLE OR NO NOTICE. I LIVE ~15 MILES FROM THE AIRPORT (IN CORDOVA) SO I COULD BE PACKED AND READY TO GO IN ABOUT AN HOUR`S NOTICE.
Answer Guess what Jennifer? AOL has the best reliable method of checking cheapest airfares. I've tested it out several times and it always has the lowest air fares. You go to the travel channel and look up the airfares and go for the cheapest find. I'm sure you've noticed that memphis doesn't get good airfares, especially from Northwest. If you drive to Little Rock or Nashville you can get cheaper fares and Southwest flies in and out of those. I just moved from Memphis , after twentyfive years, back to my hometown of Chicago where you can get many more cheap fares. Is the bus something you would consider? They often have inexpensive fares , too. There's an east memphis bus station for greyhound on summer near the expressway and Garden Ridge. I use to frown on the bus but recently tried it again and it really wasn't bad...course you have to have the time. You may want to check out the train too but I am not familiar with it. Sherry
