Question My wife and 4 kids have targeted Tennessee for a vacation this June. We have never been there. What sparked our interest was a little ad in a family magazine that showed a cabin overlooking a beatiful valley. The only attraction that we have knowledge of is Dollywood. We live in Wisconsin. We are not big fishermen but might be interested. We love music, we love hiking. We would like to explore something new! Any ideas?
Answer Mike in WI:
Hi, Mike. I was born and raised in SE WI and when I retired in NW FL eight years ago became a "halfback" here in E TN.
E TN is an incredible place for a family vacation. But to help you, I need more info. Where are you from (driving directions)? How old are your kids? Are you campers or are you interested in motels or self-catering log cabins? Dollywood is great. The Great Smoky Mountain NP has hundreds of miles of hiking trails including the actual Appalachian Trail. Largest underground sea to explore. Minor league baseball (Cubs feeder) in a spectacular stadium. Outlet shopping. Oak Ridge where the atomic age began and a museum that will dazzle your kids. Steam train rides. Now you may appreciate why we moved here.
