Question Dear Jennifer,
My husband, children (a 3 year old and a 3 month old) and I are planning a trip to TN from 10/25-10/30. We would like to see the fall colors, visit a civil war site, stay in a B&B (although proving difficult with children) eat great food (all kinds), visit a children's museum and drive from Nashville to Memphis. If you could also provide a spectacular sunset with cocktails and 2 sleeping children, I would be willing to give you a generous tip. :)
Thank you for your time.
Answer I can mainly give you info about Memphis. When coming though I highly recommend a few hotels:
www.peabodymemphis.com ( ask for specials and a corner room that gets sunset exposure!) They have an awesome rooftop deck for cocktails and watching the sunset over the Miss river...try to go even if you don't stay here...also they have a great Sunday Brunch. Perhaps they have babysitting???
www.shellcrest.com The mood here is old world and incredible! It is like a whole apartment.
www.madisonhotelmemphis.com
www.talbotheirs.com
With the Madison and the Peabody explore the idea of a suite and tell the you would like a view of the river. If these hotels are too pricy write back and I can give you more ideas.
Some ideas for dining:
Rendevous BBQ ( downtown)
Joes Crab Shack ( downtown on the trolly line right on the river great for kids, play things, outdoor eating)
Paulettes ( midtown locals place)
Memphis Pizza Cafe
Fino's... for lunch.... Midtown
Also, stop at the Fresh Market on White Station Road and Poplar for all kinds of gourmet groceries for you room and maybe even dinner ( a hotel picnic might be in order at some point with little ones!) www.freshmarket.com
