Question
My daughter is moving from Arizona to Nashville TN with her husband and 3 children. The children are All in elementary school. She is willing to move to Nashville, Brentwood, Franklin and Goodlettsville. All these towns are in the immediate Nashville vacinity. She would like to know which town to move to according to the best school academic ranking. (In which town will her children get the best education). Do you know the answer or who or what department I can contact to get this information? Thanks in advance for your information. Robert Keyes.

Answer
Robert:

Sorry, but Nashville is about 200 miles W of here, and I don't know much about it except that it is a great place to visit.  I can offer some hearsay and a couple of web sites that might give you the info you seek.

Here in Maryville, our local school system is reputed to be the second-best in the state, the best being in Brentwood.

Try these websites for detailed info:

This one is for the Metro Nashville school district:
http://www.mnps.org/

This is the State Dept of Ed site--they offered some quality and rankings info:
http://www.state.tn.us/education/

This one may tell you more than you want to know about the Brentwood schools:
http://www.brentwood.org/educatn.html

The State publishes annual test scores by school and grade.  This may be on-line.  Try a Google search.

Hope this helps.  We welcome your daughter to our wonderful state.

Best regards, Jerry Yares (jyares@aol.com)
