Question Hi Montana,
my 11 yrs old son playing tennis since 4 yrs. he recently changed his forhand from double to single one. so i started a personal coach(private coach) for him. coach is not experienced one but my son can hit the ball continuously for an hour. so to improve his single hand forhand.
we do not have good coach where we r located. He is extremly talented boy .
my question is shall he continue this type of coaching.?
He is also into group coaching thrice a week. No physical fitness .
Is group coaching better or private one? If he takes only private 1:1, how he will play games with other players.
how much physical fitness required at this age and what type?
unfortunately my husband is not very supportive.

Answer Hi,
Ok well here is my opinion. It has taken me 3 years to find the right coach for me. I have had many coaches and had yet found the right one. I started with this new coach about 2 years ago and he is brilliant. It takes a long time to find the right coach for you. Switch around other clubs and just try them out to see if he likes them better. I have been to about 5 different clubs with 10 different instructors. If your son is only 11 yrs old and just switched to a one handed forehand that is ok. I would not start any extra off the court physical fitness just yet because he still needs the basic on the court training with his strokes. When you feel he has really improved and is starting to get stronger, probably at the age of 13-15, then you can start with physical fitness, but not yet. Kids, teens, and even adults who want to be good players should play with other kids not just one on one training all the time. However, they should have at least one private lesson a weak for them to just personally work on what their weaknesses are. He should go to clinics with others kids his level and play at least 3 times a weak and have a private lesson once a week. If you feel this coach you have now is not a very good one then you should switch to one you feel better about. Also if your kid does not feel comfortable with him and would like to try someone else then why not try it. It is the most critical right now at his age to get the right form and the right stroke motion. If this coach does not really know what he is doing then your sons strokes are going to be set back and not be the best it could be. I hope this helped you!
