Tennis/switched rackets - elbow pain
Hi - I'm a 5.0, former DI college player. I've been using a Wilson 6.1 Pro Staff Classic 95 for the last 20 years with no issues at all. I switched about 2 months ago because I felt like I wanted a little bit more power. I switched to the Wilson BLX Blade 98. I've been feeling some elbow pain, particularly serving but a bit on slice backhands as well. I know the racket is lighter and more flexible. I like the racket, but on serves I'm not feeling as much power as I'd like and this might contribute to the elbow pain because I could be trying to muscle it a bit more. Would you recommend adding weight to the racket, or just scrapping it and trying a different racket (= expensive!)? If you recommend adding weight, where would you add it? My old racket is described as 11 pts HL, whereas the new one is described as 2 pts HL, whatever those mean. But they indicate to me that if I'm going to add weight, it should be to make it more head light to replicate my old racket. Thanks for your thoughts.
