Expert: Ed Hines Date: 11/16/2007 Subject: tennis ball hitting hand holding racquet
Question while swinging to hit a shot, ball strikes hand holding racquet. ball goes over net for a winner. do I win the point? somewhere in the past I recall that the hand holding the racquet is an extension of the racquet up to the wrist. thanks
Answer Sorry, Bob, no. If the ball touches any part of you or anything on you, you lose the point. That includes the hand, a cap, a towel (if you had one stuck in your pocket), etc. It does not include the frame (thank goodness) or handle of the racket. But the hand is a definite loss of point.
Good luck.
