Question MY 10 WEEK OLD RAT TERRIER PUPPY HAS BEEN GROWLING AND BITING FOR 2 WEEKS NOW.I HAVE TRIED SMACKING HIS FACE AND GRABING HIM BEHIND THE NECK AND LAYING HIM ON HIS SIDE.NOTHING WORKS;DO YOU THINK NUETERING HIM WILL HELP? THANKS CRAIG
Answer Hi Craig. Possibly you could try a more positive approach. Is your dog growling and biting when you feed him - the sign of food aggression. Or does he do this when you try to remove a toy?
Clicker training can help with aggression, but it is best to have someone that knows how, and when to click and treat teach you. I suggest that you find a local trainer that offers clicker training classes and enroll. This will take some commitment, but the success of having a puppy that doesn't growl and bite will be well worth it.
Good luck, and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have additional questions. Sincerely, Penny D.
