About Beth Adams
Expertise
I have 10+ yrs rescuing Cairn terriers. Ask me about rescue work and re-homing rescued terriers. I am also proudly owned by a Jack Russell Terrier rescue. I am also keenly aware that terriers are significantly different from other kinds of dogs, and often not the best choice for some owners. HOWEVER I AM NOT A VET! PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME IN-DEPTH MEDICAL QUESTIONS THAT SHOULD BE DIRECTED ONLY TOWARDS MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS. I WILL BE HAPPY TO ASSIST WITH BASIC MEDICAL QUESTIONS/NEEDS THAT I CAN OFFER MY PERSONAL OPINION ON. If you ask me questions about breeding, please expect me to be direct about my opinion on this topic.

Experience
10+ yrs owning and rescuing cairn terriers. Proudly owned by a Jack Russell Terrier rescue. My JRT is active in being a foster brother, and earthdog and agility events and we're having a blast

Terriers - Sick "opie"

Question
Dear Beth,Opie now has his third infection and we have him back on antibiotics.I don,t understand why the vets don,t have a better way of finding out where the infection is coming from. They have taken blood and urine samples again. And now they are talking about an ultrasound. We are putting enzymes and Probiotics on his food as you suggested. It breaks my heart to see him so sick especially with his first birthday on Tuesday. If you can refer us to somebody who can help us with advise maybe on the internet,I would appreciate that. Thanks Again Mike

Answer
Poor Opie.... An ultrasound is a normal part of trying to track this thing down. Around here, my vet would refer you to Cornell University if he was feeling unsure or frustrated. I don't know what your closest vet school is, but they always have the specialists that may be required for your poor baby.

PLEASE keep me up to date on how he is making out, and I'm so sorry I can't be of more help.

-Beth
